I don't usually post recipes - I'm not that fabulous a cook, and I generally leave that sort of thing to the lovely and gifted Venus. However, a tiny bit of genius accidentally fell out of my brain and into the batter last weekend, and what resulted were whole wheat pancakes that my children not only ate, but did so without butter or syrup. This, in my household, is a minor miracle and certainly worth memorializing on the internet.
Here's the super-simple recipe: Stir together 2 cups whole wheat flour, 2 1/4 cups milk, 1 large egg, 1 tablespoon sugar, 1 tablespoon baking soda, and (here's the magic ingredient) 1/4 cup yellow cake mix until smooth. Then fry 'em up. If you need directions on that part, you should ask someone else because I'm generally half-way through the batter before I manage to make one that looks right. This makes quite a few pancakes, but they are totally freezable and awesome for a quick breakfast or snack. You're welcome. And before anybody gets on my case about processed foods/cake mix/yada yada - it's a fourth of a cup in more than a dozen pancakes. Get over yourself.
Also worth noting is that my appetite is back in a major way. At the rate I'm eating, I'll have my tits back in no time.

Plenty of chances to get your Eartha fix this month...
I must be the worst blogger ever. I'm just too busy. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

For those who don't already know, I'm producing my own Halloween burlesque review at Davey's 10/30. It will be a Counter Culture Militia Boob Squad (which consists soley of Miss Kiki Severe and myself, currently) presentation, but with lots of special guests. That said, I'd still like to find a band. Preferably soon, before Michele stops calling me honey and starts getting pissy. I struck out with Alacartoona and the Spooklights - any thoughts?
Since I need to make a flyer for this shindig soon, I did a photoshoot with my friend Jon, aka Flywheel at the old Work House castle off Paseo yesterday... and it turned out FUCKING FABULOUS. Here's a taste:

I'll also be dancing at the Cherry's DeLuxe monthly show at the Madrigal on 10/18 and Cherry's DeLuxe Raises the Dead at Korruption on 10/24.

Good news - no pneumonia!
Or flu, or infection... evidently I've been having a month-long anxiety attack. But big pharm has my back, so I'm feeling much better now. Yay, drugs! I'm also on day 3 of a mostly raw diet, which I think is helping a lot too. But still. Yay, drugs!
Now I have a new problem. I was supposed to perform in a Halloween burlesque show that the Pretty Kitties were putting on at Davey's 10/30. Well one of them dropped out, so they cancelled. Thing is, I was really looking forward to it and have at least three numbers that will be a ton of fun. I'm reasonably certain I can pull together a great show even if I have to find a band to round it out. Sooo, I'm thinking that if Davey's hasn't filled the date yet, I want to take it. Then today, Mission Theatre finally got back to me - they want me to do the show in their lounge on Halloween night. The downside is that they want a bar guarantee that, by my calculations, we would need at least 50 people drinking to reach. And with it being Halloween on a Friday, there's a ton of parties and shows going on around town that would hurt our numbers a lot.
Ideally, I'd like to do both shows, but I'm just not sure if it's feasible. So help a sister out and respond to the poll, hey? Thanks. You're the best.

So much for regular posting.
Meh. I've been sick. Pretty sure it's all stress related. Nothing a few thousand dollars and a massage wouldn't fix. Unless it's cancer, which is quickly becoming my greatest fear. I wish I were joking. Enough about that. How about some pics from recent performances, huh? Yeah. Good plan.

About the bald thing...
Yeah, I know I said a bit about it before, but I'm having all sorts of minor revelations about shaving my head. Not the least of which is that, had I done it 10-15 years ago, it would have been an act of rebellion. Now, it is an expression of solidarity and love. Funny, that. Also, I wasn't expecting to feel so damn sexy! Not that I didn't think I was sexy before, but there's something about this head of mine that is just effing hot! I think I look powerful, which makes me feel powerful. And the freedom! I think a lot of it may be just that I'm giddy about never having to worry about bed-head, hat-hair, or driving on the highway with the windows open. I don't have to use a brush, or buy hairspray, or spend any time or money at all on my hair. And in the state I'm in - broke, begging & borrowing just to feed my kids, nursing a broken heart and just generally stressed to the point of sitting down and crying in the grocery store because of things that I can't (at least at the moment) do anything about... a bit of freedom goes a long way. Also, people pet me more often, which I enjoy very much. The chick that licked my head the other night was a little weird, though.

Starting Over
I had a blog. It was here. But so much has changed since last I updated there - not the least of which was that my girlfriend (who I had been with since before I started that blog and was very much integrated in the whole thing) dumped me and broke my heart - that I felt like I needed to start over with a clean slate. So here we are. Starting over.
Oh, where to begin... How about an introduction? I'm Ms. Eartha Delights - aka tec, aka Stacey, aka Mom - mother, burlesque performer, dancer, singer, aspiring aerial fabric acrobat, higher education grunt, jewelry and accessory designer, music fan, artist, libertine, lunatic, fibromyalgia sufferer, ADD narcoleptic, smartass, rebel, hedonist, compulsive shopper, empath, vulgarian, xenophile, social butterfly, and lesbian. Not necessarily in that order.
I recently shaved my head. Partially in solidarity with my beloved friend Abagail, who is fighting stage III inflammatory breast cancer (read about it on her amazing blog - Hope is my Middle Name), and partially because I hate doing my hair and I'm bad at it. This is what I look like now:

Hot, right? I totally dig it. I have wigs for performances and special occasions, and I never have to have a bad hair day again. Also, if I frown a little, I look like I could kick your ass and hand it to you, which can come in handy sometimes. I do feel like I have to dress girly and wear make-up all the time now, though. Going out in my usual jeans, tank, and boots with a bare face would be straying a bit too far into militant dyke/skinhead territory for me now. There's balance in everything, I suppose.
So now you know me. Sort of. And now I've started a new blog to go with my new(ish) life. Good then. On with the show.
